An interactive 2 hour workshop to develop your knowledge and understanding of fitness for young grass-roots players.

Throughout childhood players show natural gains in strength, speed, agility, and endurance, an understanding of how these different components of fitness are affected is key to provide the most positive and effective experience for young players.

Throughout the workshop you will learn about the impact growth and maturation has on physical development, the trainability of speed, strength, power, and endurance throughout childhood and adolescence, and common injuries to be aware of in youth sports.

How is the workshop structured?

This is a 2-hour face to face workshop. In the workshop, you will experience a range of practical and theory, with supporting demonstrations, and question and answer sessions to meet your needs.

What You’ll Learn:

This workshop will help you to:

  • Understand the effect growth, maturation, and development has on physical performance, and what that means for youth football
  • Understand the different fitness components required for youth sport, and the trainability of speed, strength, power, and endurance throughout childhood and adolescence
  • Know how to apply key strength and conditioning principles to youth sports
  • Recognise common overuse injuries in youth football
